Battle Royale is finally getting a US DVD and Blu Ray release
Back in 1999, there were plans on releasing Battle Royale in the US, but distributors feared backlash from the student-on-student violence in the wake of the Columbine HS massacre. Even though Battle Royale has been on Netflix for a while now, it still hasn’t ever gotten an official US DVD release. This March however, it will be showing up on DVD and in high def Blu Ray.
There had also been plans on an American remake, but thanks to The Hunger Games, that’s not going to happen. Grab it on Blu Ray in March and enjoy it in all its awesome Japanese gory glory.
