Free Wi-Fi coming to Japanese vending machines in 2012

As a result of so many people in Japan getting access to mobile broadband in such a short amount of time, there’s a bit of a public bandwidth shortage. So many companies have been stepping in, offering free public, no-registration Wi-Fi. The latest will be beverage company Asahi, who will outfit all of their vending machines with free Wi-Fi starting next year.
While there are other companies that have free Wi-Fi, Asahi’s will be the most generous. It’s absolutely free, with no registration, available on any carrier for any device in a 50 meter radius. Even though there’s a limit of 30 minutes, there won’t be any problems quickly reconnecting after your 30 minutes are up.
