Georgia megachurch pastor Jim Swilley comes out of the closet
Jim Swilley, pastor of a megachurch in Rockdale County, Georgia came out of the closet today in front of his congregation. Swilley, 52, founded the church 25 years ago and has been divorced and has two children, but says that he’s known he’s been gay his entire life. He said he came out of the closet after the recent anti-bullying movements made him think about his own children and he hopes that he can help other gay Christians.
IMO, I hope that this is a step, even if it turns out to be a small one for churches to accept gays and lesbians and to not treat it as a disease that can be prayed away.
