One of the original film prints of Manos: The Hands of Fate found

Manos: The Hands of Fate is well-known as possibly the worst movie ever made and was the subject of one of the funniest episodes of MST3K ever, but as shitty as the movie is, the visual quality of the film over time is even shittier. Even the best copy of the film is in awful condition, but a recent discovery of an original film print could change that. It’s still a shitty movie, but at least it doesn’t have to look shitty.

So the story goes that this guy was getting into collecting 16mm film and found a sale on eBay for a large number of 8mm and 16mm prints in San Diego. He bought the lot and in the mix, he found… Manos: The Hands of Fate.

Apparently, to save money, the film was shot on 16mm and later blown up to 35mm for theatrical runs.

Right now, the plan is that the owner of the film plans to restore it, but there’s no word on when a remastered version of Manos might be available to the public.
