Garrett Hedlund offered the role of Kaneda in Akira
So it looks like the American live-action remake of Akira is going ahead for real whether you like it or not. There’s already talks of Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham-Carter in the movie and now it looks like Garrett Hedlund might be playing Kaneda.
It’s not the best choice in the world, but I suppose there could be far worse choices. The role of Kaneda would require Hedlund to yell, fight, look really intense and ride motorcycles, which is pretty much exactly what he did in Tron: Legacy, so he’s got that on his resume.
Who do you think should play Kaneda?
