If you were upset about Facebook moving a couple boxes around, hold onto your panties…

I’m constantly amazed with the whining, wailing and gnashing of teeth for the first 2 or 3 days after Facebook makes minor layout changes. Move this box here and that box there and suddenly HOLYFUCK it’s like a riot on Facebook and a million “I h8 the new facebook” groups pop up like mushrooms and then after a week, no one remembers that anything was ever different.

So if you’re one of those people that is easily upset by Facebook change, hold onto your panties, because today, Facebook held a conference to show off one of the site’s most radical redesigns in years.

As you can see in the screenshot above, your profile will now have a large banner at the top, large content boxes neatly organized throughout and all of your stuff— photos, posts, stupid fucking Facebook game alerts, etc will be organized by a timeline on the right side, kinda sorta similar in appearance to the Apple Time Machine.

Zuckerberg called Timeline “the story of your life” and it’s designed to highlight a member’s important events with photos. Timeline starts with a major “cover photo.”

“All your stories, all your apps, a new way to express who you are,” he said. “Everything you shared recently is all right here. Timeline is for you to express who you are.”

The keynote speech started with a faux Zuckerberg coming out on stage – comic Andy Samberg from “Saturday Night Live” wearing Zuckerberg’s trademark hoodie.

Samberg joke that Facebook was so big, it had “even more people than claim they came up with Facebook.”

And as for one-time social media king MySpace, he said he “chloroformed it, drove it out to the desert and put a bullet into its skull.”
