Yale Lock Co. testing NFC-enabled residential locks

Some hotels in Sweden already have NFC enabled locks on their rooms, but the Yale Lock Co. wants to bring them to the market for residential use. Just swipe your smartphone in front of your lock and voila, your door is open.

As you can see in the photo and video below, the lock also employs a traditional metal tumbler lock, in case you don’t have your phone or the battery’s dead. There aren’t any other details about pricing or when these might show up at your local Home Depot.
