
Earlier today, Microsoft unveiled the new Xbox, called the Xbox One. As evident by the new minimalistic boxy design, the One is being billed less as just a console and more of a home entertainment portal, where games, music, movies and TV shows all share more or less equal billing. And as expected, the One also comes with a newer version of Kinect built in, so that ordering your Xbox around to play games or find movies will become commonplace.

Even though we’ve already passed the big box office movie milestone of the first two weeks of June, there’s still a lot of months left to go in 2013. For the first couple Star Wars movies, the deserts of Morocco and Tunisia made good backdrops for the desert planet of Tattooine. Many of those set pieces are still there, just rotting away in the desert, and New York photographer Rä di Martino went to go find the abandoned sets of Star Wars.

There were two things that defined the sound of The Doors… one was the languid voice and dark, brooding lyrics of Jim Morrison and the other was the soulful and intricate keyboard melodies of Ray Manzarek. And today, at the age of 74, Manzarek passed from this mortal coil to join Jim Morrison on the other side.
