My guess is that the creators of the random Mario level Flash app did add that in. There was no wall jumping in Super Mario World of course, but Mario can wall jump in New Super Mario Bros.
A worthy addition.
It does make sense. I've seen that fat plumber pull a backflip from a standstill and he shot about fifteen feet in the air. Wall jumps should be a piece of cake.

I remember the Super Mario World ROM hack where no controls would be input at all and Mario would just bounce across the stage until he reached the goal.
