New trailer for The Road is awesomely bleak and apocalypsetastic [I Heart Movies]
With The Road coming out on November 25th, here's the latest trailer for the adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy novel. There's more bleakness, more Vito Morgensson (a great casting choice, btw) and some of Charlize Theron.
I haven't read the book, but from what I understand, in the novel, Charlize Theron's character doesn't play all that big of a role in the present time and the reason for the apocalypse is never divulged. So if you have read the book, from this trailer, you may have to brace yourself for a little bit of messing around with the timeline as well as the possibility of the apocalyptic event being explained. Still from here, it looks like it could be a pretty damn good movie.

the road is one of the best books i've ever read.
that being said, i was very skeptical when i heard it was being turned into a movie. then i was (dare i say?) optimistic when i saw the first stills.
now charlize theron is in it (the wife/mom is in like 2 pages of the book) and the trailer pretty much sucks away the remaining interest i had in it.
Read 'Blood Meridian'.
Not an easy read, but a thousand times better than 'the Road'. Having that said, I'll probably see the movie.
Not too Bad
It will be interesting to see how much narration there is in the movie since the book's style is so descriptive. To be fair about his wife, she may still only be in it for a short amount of time, I mean look at the Guy Pierce character, he still got a slot in the trailer.
Cormac McCarthy
I discovered Cormac McCarthy after seeing No Country for Old Men. His character dialogue and descriptive style are so unique. The Road is a great read, but can be overbearing and depressing if you read it with the wrong expectations. The Road may be a good movie, but could easily go astray.
As for a reading suggestion on McCarthy:
No Country for Old Men

Blood Meridian
then
The Road
then
Blood Meridian again :)
Hollywood Suck Factor
I don't know. The actors are good, but Hollywood has a tendency to suck the good stuff out of books when they convert them to visual media.
