George Romero is remaking his 1973 film "The Crazies" [I Heart Movies]

George Romero is not a man that you can accuse of going off on tangents. He knows what he likes, he knows what he's good at and he does a lot of it. For his next movie, due out in 2010, he's remaking his 1973 film The Crazies.

The Crazies isn't really a zombie movie in the sense of every other George Romero zombie movie. It's more like zombies in a 28 Days Later sense, or more accurately, 28 Days Later was zombies in a The Crazies sense. Town gets infected by some sort of rage virus, starts killing its citizens, military steps in, hell breaks loose, lots of people die etc etc. But watch the whole trailer below, right through the end.

Speaking of zombies, has anybody read "The Rising" and "City of the Dead" by Brian Keene?  That shit would be the greatest zombie movie ever!  Of course it would be like 8 hours long and rated 40X.  It's got everything from zombie rape to zombie squirrels to zombie suicide bombers to a soildier getting fed to zombies...dick first!!!  Yikes!

 

Plus the ending is perfect.

I was reading his Wiki page and he's shown as a writer not a director. Him being tied to it is still a good thing and I'm hoping a different director shows a different side of his writing. I heard he's very controlling with his directing and it showed with Diary of the Dead. That movie was good but his worst. It's still too early for me to know if this movie looks good enough but that's what I felt about Zombieland. Now Zombieland is one of my favorites.

That looks really good. I never saw the original, but I'd wager that this one is probably better. Romero is hit or miss, really. Night/Dawn/Day of the dead were classics. Land of the Dead was an absolutely stinker. I haven't summoned the courage to watch Diary of the Dead, because i'm afraid it's going to be another shitball. So, maybe a remake of The Crazies without Romero on board is a good thing.  :)
