Enjoy Tim Burton's first stop-motion short, "Vincent" from 1982 [I Heart Movies]
f
in 1982, at the age of 24, Tim Burton was working for Disney and quickly becoming disillusioned with the way Disney did things. On the verge of leaving, Disney gave him the opportunity to work on a 6 minute animated short based on a short story he had written about a young suburban boy named Vincent who reads the stories of Edgar Allen Poe and identifies himself with horror actor Vincent Price. This didn't satisfy Burton, who went on to create another short for Disney-- "Frankenweenie"-- about a boy who reanimates his dog after it was hit by a car, only to see Disney shelve the film because it was too dark, finally left Disney along with animator Don Bluth after the disaster of the feature film The Black Cauldron. And the world was better for it.
