Apparently America is too stupid for a movie about Charles Darwin [I Heart Movies]
Oscar-winning producer Jeremy Thomas' latest film, a movie about the life of Charles Darwin, probably won't be coming to the US any time soon since not a single American distributor wants to touch it with a 10-foot pole.

From UPI:
"It has got a deal everywhere else in the world but in the U.S., and it's because of what the film is about," he said.
The movie portrays Darwin as a man who loses his religious faith due to an accident that kills his young daughter. Darwin is best known for writing 1859's "Species" that has served as the foundation of evolutionary theory.
Thomas, whose film "The Last Emperor" won the 1988 Best Picture Oscar, told the Telegraph "Creation" does not attack religion.
"Charles Darwin is, I suppose, the hero of the film. But we tried to make the film in a very even-handed way. Darwin wasn't saying 'kill all religion', he never said such a thing, but he is a totem for people," the producer said.
Bah, there's SOME American distribution company that will pick this up. Get Bill Maher on the phone, he'll recommend somebody.

I really hope SOMEONE decides
I really hope SOMEONE decides to pick it up it sounds like a great movie
Nut up or shut up
Nature's Biggest Retards
Hahaha, America is Backwards!
Darwin is being played by Paul Bettany. sounds like it could be a decent movie.
Just because a company does
Just because a company does not want to pick it up here does not mean the people do not want to see it.
I say, give it 2-3 years after its run around here bootleg, then some new agency is going to get a tip about it and then everyone will know about it. the more some groups will complain about it, the more other people will want to watch it :D
