China is a country that pretty much just likes to do everything their own way and fuck everybody else. It's also a country that often doesn't give a damn for protecting copyrights and intellectual property. Instead of importing real Pixar movies, they're decided just to make their own cheap knock-offs. The first one is the short film Presto-- first the Chinese version, followed by the Pixar version. The Chinese version is a shot-for-shot ripoff, though not quite there.

Going direct to DVD next Tuesday is Ewe Boll's latest video game movie trainwreck masterpiece, FarCry. Obviously based on the video game of the same name, it looks like pretty standard Ewe Boll action movie stuff, but more... German than most. Til Schwieger and Udo Kier? "WTF?" I hear you saying "Isn't Fantastic Mr. Fox a fucking kiddie movie?" Why yes it is... but it's got three fantastic things going for it: a) It's based on a book of the same name by Roald Dahl, who also wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach, and Dahl's children's books are often darker and funnier than most and b) it's got a fantastic A-list voice cast including George Clooney, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson and c) it's got a unique and fantastic organic hand-stiched puppet visual style that I just fucking love.

If you listened to the IHC podcast this morning, you may remember that in the bit about upcoming movies, both me and Delsyd were less than enthusiastic about Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, mainly because we were skeptical about a) the need for another Bad Lieutenant movie and b) Nicolas Cage. But this bizarre clip has changed my mind. I might just have to go and see this.

Best Buy has seen the future of movies, and that future is digital distribution. The LA Times has learned that in anticipation of a near future where most people will get their movies straight from the interwebs, the big box chain will be slowly scaling down its stock of physical movie media.

No, this isn't the original Star Wars rap, or the Star Wars rap redux, it's the Star Wars Gangsta Rap Chronicles, done by BentTV, who did the original Star Wars rap video. This has been on the internet for a few days now, but I just couldn't bring myself to watch it until now. Aaand... it's pretty damn good. The animation is way better than the original Star Wars rap and it has way more SW characters, though the lyrics in the original might be a little bit better. Still a good distraction from work.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for marching bands, especially ones that just knock it out of the fucking park. In this video, the Penn State marching band not only covers a number of geeky movie themes (starting with Danny Elfman's Batman theme), but the on-field choreography is absolutely incredible. Well that didn't take long... shortly after the release of the movie poster art for the upcoming indie comic book flick Kick Ass, we now have a trailer. It doesn't look nearly as violent as the comic book, but of course it's a green band trailer, so I wouldn't really expect any. However, I do hope that the movie lives up to the hype and the amazing pre-release reviews. I don't want to have to kick anybody's ass. Kick Ass hits theaters April 16th of next year.

What if instead of high tech special effects, The Matrix were redone as a silent film? It would naturally star Charlie Chaplin as Neo as he learns the arts of boxing and pie-throwing to destroy the evil goggle-wearing Agent Smith. I wish this video had some sort of soundtrack-- some tinny piano would work well-- but you take what you can get.
