Insect eggs under a microscope look like alien pods from another world
Insect eggs are generally too small to see well with our eyes, and even if you do spot one, they don’t look like much. But under a scanning microscope, all sorts of crazy detail is revealed and they end up looking like alien seed pods. The photo above is the egg of a Zebra longwing butterfly. And below are the eggs of a Julia heliconian butterfly wrapped in a vine and a blue morpho butterfly.

With Machete hitting theaters today, it’s the perfect timing for the release of another movie that was born in the fake trailers of Tarantino and Rodriguez’s Grindhouse: Hobo with a Shotgun, starring Rutger Hauer. I fully approve of the way this movie is going so far. More heads popping off!

The 7” Samsung Galaxy tablet wants you to believe that when it comes out a little later this year that it will be the first real competitor to the iPad, but it looks like it’s going to have to hire some better Korean to English translators for their advertising. The first TV ad below isn’t so bad, even if it feels a little stilted and businessy.
