Fun with anthropomorphic cannibalism in advertising [I Heart Food]

It seems that the easiest, cheapest way for someone who is selling some sort of foodstuff to get the messages across of what they are selling and that it’s really tasty is to simply take said foodstuff, give it some cartoon googly eyes and some white gloves and show it munching on a miniature version of itself. Pigs eating pigs, chicken eating chickens and marshmallows eating their own sweet, tasty brethren. However, it doesn’t take a discerning eye to notice the extreme creepiness of this type of marketing. I mean why would a pig eat bacon given a choice? Is showing a chicken gleefully lopping of the head of its sibling supposed to make me feel better about eating chicken? Click here to see a whole Flickr gallery of such disturbing imagery and a couple more here after the jump.
