Hot dog styles from around America [I Heart Food]

If there’s one thing that defines the very unique regions of the US, it’s the art of the hot dog. Getting a hot dog in Chicago will be a very different dog indeed than the one you get in Atlanta or New York or Maine or Texas. It’s such a simple food that goes well with many different styles and every region claims they’ve got the lock on it. Growing up in North Carolina for example, I just assumed that loading your hot dog down with slaw and chili was how everyone did it… it wasn’t until years later that I learned that the slaw dog was a southern delicacy and slaw and chili, North Carolina specifically.
Serious Eats has the complete rundown of all the different styles you encounter as you travel throughout the US, which you can read here.
