Mainstream media confused as hell over Obama’s fist bump [Politics Suck]

I had no idea that I was really young and hip. I’m 29, so to about half the population I’m old and the other half of the population I’m a young whippersnapper. But when Michelle and Barack Obama exchanged fist bumps at his victory speech in St. Paul the other day, it never occurred to me that it would cause incredible bafflement by most of the mainstream media. I mean, they have young people working for them. Actually, I guess the technical term for the gesture is a pound, which I find sort of stupid, so I’ve always just referred to it as a fist bump or just a bump, so maybe I am old or maybe it’s a regional thing, but I had also assumed it was mainstream enough at this point where it’s often used as sort of a cliched gag in TV and movies to have the fuddy duddy old white guy being offered a bump and he just stood there like “Whaaaa?”
Anyway, this is why so many young people have been fired up by Obama. He just doesn’t talk about change, he walks it, breathes and sweats it. He doesn’t have to go on Arsenio Hall and play saxophone to look cool, he just sort of exudes cool.
Check out the video below to see MSNBC’s take on the old fart media dumbfounded by the gesture:
So, I guess we can expect McCain to try and follow suit pretty suit, bumping fists with the likes of Bush, Rove and Hagee. He’ll try to rebound by coming up on stage saying “What up dawg?” to a baffled bingo hall crowd.

“We just say pound. That’s what we call it in the hood.” Nice.
