Sunset on Gallifrey and other fantastic Doctor Who concept art [I Heart TV]

It’s really too bad that the planet Gallifrey was lost in the Time War in Doctor Who… or incredibly convenient from a BBC budget standpoint.  With all the sad speeches by David Tennant about his obliterated homeworld, nothing will make me satisfied until we actually see the damn thing.  With all the other poppycock and deus ex machina that Russell Davies pulls out of his ass, he can certainly come up with some incredibly contrived reason as to how Gallifrey somehow either survived the Time War or a version of the planet, even barren and desolate slipped through some alternate dimension / time rift / reversal of the polarity of the neutron flow. I mean, he seems to care very little for maintaining any sort of a consistent storyline for more than a season anyway, so why the hell not?
