10 of the worst looking sites on the web [I Heart Internets]

As a bit of a website afficianado, I’m always keeping tabs on some of the best and worst looking sites on the web. Thank god Snap2Objects did much of the work for me, assembling some of the best and worst looking sites out there– most of these were on the list I was making, so it saves me a bit of trouble. Just a tiny bit.

10. Dokimos.org: An awful animated rainbow background, an annoying Jesus freak fake Internet Explorer security popup message and the assertion that the site is best viewed in IE… ow my head.

9. Catalogs.com: I guess when you’ve got a domain like Catalogs.com, you don’t have to give a crap about how your site looks because you know you’ll get traffic out the wazoo. So you go for the ugly, hard-to-read layout, the cliched way outdated swooshes, the whole 9 yards.

8. 5SafePoints.com: I can just imagine that when someone was designing this site for a driving school in Hampton Roads, Virginia they just said “We just want to convey ‘alert’. Like smoking crack while drinking Red Bull while tripping balls on LSD while getting repeatedly punched in the nuts. If that means rainbow gifs everywhere and layout that makes your eyes bleed, well all the better.”

7. NY1.com: This one is pretty much all local radio and television stations combined into one. Why can local radio and TV stations not create websites that look like they were created by blind, retarded 12 year olds stuck in a room with no food and water?

6. DJsOnline.com: IF YOU’RE IN BUFFALO AND YOU WANT HEATING, AIR CONDITIONING, A FIREPLACE OOOR A HOT TUB, LOOK NO FURTHER THAN DJ’S HEATING, AIR CONDITIONING, FIREPLACES AND HOT TUBS!!!!1!!

5. GemWebSolutions.com: If you’re going to advertise yourself as a”leader in web hosting and design”, maybe you should try and appear that you actually spent more than 5 minutes on your own company website to give the impression you know something about web design. Just a thought.

4. Folktrash.com: Maybe you have to give this guy the benefit of the doubt… maybe this site is supposed to look like this, though in this day and age, you have to put some effort into making a site look like it’s stuck in the early 90s.

3. HavenWorks.com: This is not a pixel banner ad site, no sir. It’s a Drudge-like news portal thing. Abomination. Sleight against nature. Enemy of the epileptic. Dear god, kill it with fire.

2. TallyHoUniforms.com: I guess when your customer base is flight attendants, who wear all manner of ugly uniforms, it doesn’t matter if your site looks like shit. With creepy eyes that follow your mouse cursor. Or gif text straight out of PrintShop, circa 1990.

1. VideoSonicLab.com: Are they video or are they sonic? Did someone vomit gifs up on this domain or was there some sort of awful Satanic sacrifice to harness the powers of Satan to create something this hideous?

  3. I love the Dialup/Broadband buttons on ny1.com. Like anyone could connect to that site on braodband with all of the ads, pictures, flash animations, etc.

  4. the Jesus one is painful to look at. Its like looking at the old off air screens on tv, except youre actually trying to read the text.
