Know your internet hoaxes: Chocolate babies [I Heart Internets]

I Heart Internets

Several years ago, the above pictures surfaced on the Internet with the story that these cute widdle infants weren’t sculptures but were made out of chocolate. Of course, there’s an instant repulsion to the very thought of eating something so cute and lifelike, so the story spread like wildfire. But they’re not made out of chocolate.

So then the story changed to say, okay they’re not made out of chocolate, they’re made out of marzipan. So maybe that sounded a little more believable than chocolate, so it gave the story more life. But they’re not made out of marzipan.

They’re made out of polymer clay and mohair and they’re sculpted by Camille Allen. So they’re still gorgeous works of art, but the story isn’t so cool now that you know they’re not edible, right? This story has shown up again recently, starting over with the line that they’re made from chocolate. But I admit, I fell for it when I first saw it. But I’m just incredibly gullible like that at times.
