Photos of people before and after they died [Photography]

The Guardian UK has a great online photo exhibit of photos of people while they were alive and shortly after they died, which you can see in its entirety here. The photos are gorgeous, showing a moment of life followed by that moment when there’s nothing left but an inanimate object. The pictures aren’t graphic– no one is rotting or bloated or any of that mess, but they may be slightly disturbing to some, though there’s a quiet beauty in the whole thing.
German photographers Walter Schels and Beate Lakotta have a show of their extraordinary before-and-after-death photos opening on April 9 at the Wellcome Trust in London.
