Is it Art or Is it Crap? Permanent Vacation [Art]

In today’s “Is it Art or Is it Crap?”, we have “Permanent Vacation” by Cory Arcangel. It’s pretty simple– two computers endlessly bouncing “away on vacation” messages back and forth to each other in Outlook.
It’s Art:
In a bold statement on the spiritual meaningless of white collar existence, juxtaposed with the endless desire to escape, Cory Arcangel’s “Permanent Vacation” speaks to our deepest desires to be connected yet to be disconnected at the same time.
It’s Crap:
What the fuck is this? Is Outlook art? Fucking email? I’ve got your fucking email right here. Look at my spam-filled inbox, where’s my fucking check? You wanna buy my inbox? Make me a fucking offer.
You can see Cory Arcangel’s site here. But be warned, for being an artist, he has one of the most hideous sites I’ve ever seen.

Hmmmm, I’m going to vote that this isn’t art, since it can be achieved by anyone with 2 PCs and a rudimentary understanding of Outlook email rules. This sort of thing has happened in the past by accident, which is why the default Out of Office reply in Outlook only gets sent out once per email address. If an average Joe can do it, it’s probably not art.
