How people count cash around the world [The More You Know]

Counting paper money is one of those things that you learn from watching someone somewhere and it quickly stuck, you do it one way your whole life and it never occurs to you that people all over the world do this one simple thing in so many different ways. Really, how many ways can you flick through small sheets of paper?  Looking at this, it’s almost as if countries at some point were like “Well… no one counts money so far by slipping their thumb under here and turning the bills this way… so… let’s do that.”

  1. If I had crisp bills like that I’d count ‘em all sorts of ways

  2. That’s really amazing. Thanks for putting that wonderful video together. I love ethnography and to see it mixed with ‘economics’ - that really tickles me! :)
