Bands you didn’t know you needed to hear: Freshlyground [I Heart Music]

When my wife first started telling me about the South African pop group Freshlyground, all I could think of at first was Rusted Root– a large group of ethnically mixed people playing a wide variety of instruments.  And I hate Rusted Root… but then when I saw the videos and heard the music, I realized why they’ve been in the top 10 in South Africa for 48 weeks and counting and have gone 5x platinum– they’re damned good.

And Doo Be Doo above is one of the catchiest songs ever, as is Pot Belly.  Oh, and the singer is wha-wha smoking hot, so that’s another plus.
