Leaked screens of Yahoo’s upcoming Digg clone [I Heart Internets]

Yahoo doesn’t want to be part of Microsoft or Google or Newscorp… they just want to be Yahoo… a bad search engine with a worthless webmail service with an AOL portal tacked on and a teen gossip news site tacked on and a really bad public answers and advice site tacked on and now with Digg tacked on.

Granted, these days almost anyone can create their own Digg clone using the Digg API or some other tool, but for as bad as Yahoo does the things like search and mail that used to be its bread and butter, it has built one of the largest and most loyal communities on the Internet and there’s no doubt that Buzz will be absolutely huge. What isn’t clear is whether stories will be rated in a purely Digg-like fashion or whether it would also take into account search engine ranking and searches– for example if a story about Britney Spears is voted up, whether it would either lose or gain “votes” depending on how many people are searching for or finding the story through Yahoo. That would definitely be a bit of a different angle.
