Earworm Exorcism [I Heart Music]

Earworm: a song that just won’t leave your brain, no matter how hard you try to get rid of the damn thing. Good songs, bad songs, everyone has songs that get stuck in their head on certain days for whatever reason. This is a list of five songs that continually plague my working day…
“Private Dancer” by Tina Turner
Tina’s come a long way and she’s done some great songs, but this is not one of them. This is pretty damn far from being a great song. It’s an awful song. And to make it worse, every time it gets stuck in my head, I can’t help but have this awful image of a 100 year old Tina Turner with her muscular legs and crazy hair trying to swing that ass. It’s really unpleasant.
“Baby Hold On” by Eddie Money
This song isn’t bad, but it’s just been stuck in my head for years now. I guess it’s one of the better songs, but it still is pretty goofy.
“My Humps” by the Black Eyed Peas
So many people hate this song, but I think it’s fantastic. It’s so stupid and catchy and it doesn’t help that Alanis Morrisette did such a great cover… so that’s two versions that get stuck in my head. Whatcha gonna do with all that junk? All that junk inside your trunk? I’ma gonna get get get you drunk, get you love drunk off my hump.
“You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” by Bachman Turner Overdrive
This is one that is purely the fault of commercials. This used to be big on I think maybe Ford commercials or maybe Chevy. Who gives a shit, the point is that now it’ll be stuck in my head til I die. Thank you, TV.
“Nookie” by Limp Bizkit
When I went to Woodstock 99, I had no idea who the hell Limp Bizkit was. I was only 20, but I felt like I was 50. Everyone was like “Oh yeah I can’t wait to see Limp Bizkit live” and I was all like “who the fuck?” Okay, so fast forward to 2007 when this stupid song gets stuck in my head and makes me want to jump around like the rhythmless goofy white bastard that I am.
